he victim of a Friday evening shooting was treated and released from Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown this weekend, an official said.
West Virginia State Police Trooper J.L. Brewer said that John Estep, 25, was treated and released from the West Virginia University hospital sometime during the weekend after he was shot during an altercation in the parking lot of the McDonald's in Ellenboro at 113 Washington St. on Friday evening.
"We are not sure when he was released, but we do know he was released during the weekend," Brewer said Monday.
The two Parkersburg men arrested on Friday in connection with the shooting remain in custody at the North Central Regional Jail.
Timothy Paul Cota, 18, was arraigned in Ritchie County on Saturday morning on charges of malicious assault and wanton endangerment and is being held on $50,000 bond.
Shawn Dallas Linville-Harding, 20, was arraigned on Saturday morning in Ritchie County on charges of being an accessory to a shooting. Linville-Harding is being held on $25,000 bond.
According to Brewer, Estep of Wood County was shot in the restaurant's parking lot following a verbal argument about stolen property.
"The verbal argument escalated to a physical altercation, which led to the weapon being discharged," Brewer said. "At this time, the motive for the incident is still under investigation."
